Terry Gibson directs the design, construction, maintenance, and operations of the nearly 80,000-mile state highway system in North Carolina. Prior to his appointment as state highway administrator on January 12, 2009, he served as resident engineer, division construction engineer, state roadway construction engineer and Division 6 engineer, overseeing highway operations in Bladen, Columbus, Cumberland, Harnett and Robeson counties. Gibson is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a bachelor of science degree in math education and civil engineering. He also is a licensed professional engineer and a native of Huntersville.
