Motorycycle Test Days & Times
Motorcycle skills tests are given (weather permitting) on:
- Tue: 8:30AM & 2:30PM
- Wed: 8:30AM & 2:30PM
- Thu: 8:30AM & 2:30PM
The knowledge test must be completed before the skills test is given.

The law in North Carolina requires the operator of any motorcycle to have a motorcycle endorsement shown on their driver license or possess a motorcycle learner permit.

Step 1, Requirements & Documents
Motorcycle Endorsement
You must possess one of the following, issued by the NC DMV.
Motorcycle Learner Permit
You must possess one of the following, issued by the NC DMV. Motorcycle Learner Permits are issued for 12 months. Only one renewal of 6 months is allowed.
Additional Requirements
- You must be at least 16 years old but less than 18 years old.
- A parent or guardian's signature is required
Step 2, Take Driver Tests & Pay Fees
The final step towards getting your Motorcycle Endorsement or Motorcycle Learner Permit is passing the driver tests & paying the appropriate fees.
The Knowledge Test must be completed before the Skills Test (Road Test) can be given.
For Learner Permit
Drivers under the age of 18 will have to pass a course offered by
the organizations below in addition to the normal tests.
