Driver Improvement Clinics
If you are convicted of certain motor vehicle violations in North Carolina,
Driver License Points (see Chapter 3 in the Driver's Handbook) are placed against
your driving record. If you accumulate seven points, you may be assigned to a Driver Improvement
Clinic by a court or by a driver license hearing officer. Upon satisfactory completion of the clinic,
three points are deducted from your driving record. Drivers are eligible to attend driving
improvement clinics once every five years to reduce driver license points. Upon satisfactory
completion of the clinic, three points are deducted from your driving record. To receive point credit,
you must qualify and have a conference with a driver license hearing officer.
