District 2 contains about 60% of the Interstate
miles in Division 3. I-40 enters Division 3 near Newton Grove in Sampson County and continues through Sampson
into Duplin County before leaving the District near Wallace. Travelers along this rural segment
will find a Rest Area at milepost 364 to comfort their road weary bodies. District 2 is unique within Division 3 in that neither county shares a border with the Atlantic Ocean. The largest municipality in the District, and the location of the District office, is Clinton. Other cities and towns in District 2 are Kenansville (home of James Sprunt CC), Spivey's Corner (location of the famed Hollerin Contest), Magnolia, Wallace and Warsaw. |
