| The Roadside Environmental Department is responsible for sedimentation and erosion control; vegetation management; highway beautification; and rest areas. Sedimentation and erosion control is the seeding, mulching, and installation of erosion control measures on contract and force account land disturbance activities. Vegetation management includes turf management, noxious weed control, and maintenance of visibility along the roadsides. Highway beautification consists of the Wildflower Program, enhancement plantings, and reforestation. The rest areas in Division 3 are maintained by contract and inspected by DOT personel. |
