OUTDOOR ADVERTISING AND JUNKYARD CONTROL
The State Road Maintenance Unit provides administrative oversight to effectively control the erection and maintenance of outdoor advertising signs and junkyards.

INMATE LABOR
The State Road Maintenance Unit oversees the use of minimum and medium custody inmate labor for the maintenance and construction of the state highway system.

MOWING CONTRACTS
The State Road Maintenance Unit prepares proposals, bid sheets and lettings in addition to collecting data for contract mowing.

MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The State Road Maintenance Unit procured a commercial MMS software packange and implementation services. The contract was completed in March 2004.

MAINTENANCE CONDITION ASSESSMENT PROGRAM
The Maintenance Condition Assessment Program is the basis for the biennial Condition Assessment and Funding Needs Report to the Legislature.

CONTRACT RESURFACING
The State Road Maintenance Unit collects and analyzes all resurfacing contracts and maintains a database of the collected information.

SKILL BASED PAY
The State Road Maintenance Unit coordinates the Skill Based Pay Program which is designed to encourage and reward employees as they acquire and perform skills identified as critical by the management of its North Carolina Department of Transportation.
