US 64 Corridor Study - Phase IIA

Community Involvement

NEW! - Stakeholders' Workshop

Following the July 2009 community meeting in Cary, the US 64 Corridor Study Team re-evaluated and updated the proposed short-term and long-term plans for US 64 based on stakeholder feedback received during the spring and summer. As a follow-up to the community meeting, the Study Team held a Stakeholders' Workshop on October 22, 2009 at Apex Town Hall. The purpose of the workshop was to discuss the revised draft recommendations and receive feedback and input from area representatives for the section of US 64 within Wake County. Workshop participants included stakeholders who represent different perspectives and a variety of interests. Please see the links below for information and handouts provided at the workshop, including a summary of the discussion.

Community Meeting

In an effort to respond to questions and comments citizens have recently made, the US 64 Corridor Study Team held a community meeting on July 16, 2009 at Green Hope High School in Cary. The purpose of the meeting was for US 64 Corridor Study Team representatives to provide information, answer questions, and accept written comments regarding the planning study. Please see the links below for information and handouts provided at the meeting.

Towards the end of the Community Meeting, the Study Team shared some information on the Keystone Parkway project in Carmel, Indiana. For more information on this project, please visit the Keystone Parkway website.

Where can I find Information about the Project?

Visiting this website is a great way to stay updated on the status of the project.

Three newsletters have been developed as a part of the study. The newsletters provide information on the status of the project and how you can be involved. Newsletters were mailed to property owners within 1,600 feet of the US 64 Corridor and are posted below in both English and Spanish.

When will Community Workshops be held?

Two sets of community workshops were originally planned for this study. During the first set of workshops, held in May 2008, the Study Team shared the three potential options for the long-term plan. At the second set of workshops the Study Team presented the initial recommendation for the long-term plan, the recommended short-term solution, the land use assessment, and the phasing plan. The second set of workshops was held on April 27, 2009 in Apex and on April 28, 2009 in Pittsboro.
