The Traffic Management Unit improves transportation safety and optimizes traffic flow on North Carolina roadway networks through modeling and evaluating traffic flow and performing comprehensive studies to provide best design alternatives, reduce congestion and delay in work zones, municipalities, and schools.
The Traffic Management Unit includes: The Congestion Management Section, The Work Zone Traffic Control Section, and the Municipal and School Transportation Assistance Section which includes the Safe Routes to Schools Program.
