The North Carolina State Shipyard is located on 17.25 acres along the Croatan Sound in Manns Harbor, NC. All 21 ferries as well as tugs, tenders and crane barge are repaired at this facility. A 186 foot Syncrolift lifts all NCDOT vessels out of the water and then they are moved by platten into the yard for maintenance work. Approximately 78 permanent employees work at the facility.
