With an optimistic look towards the future, Raleigh Mayor Nancy McFarlane and Transportation Secretary Tony Tata kicked off a Town Hall meeting on Dec. 4 to encourage Raleigh-area employers and their employees to practice smart commuting to lighten the traffic during Phase II of the Fortify I-40/440 Rebuild Project.
About 90 citizens attended the meeting at the Raleigh Convention Center. Among the topics addressed to help get 30,000 motorists off the road during morning and afternoon rush hours: alternate work schedules, alternate routes and the use of buses, car and vanpools.
