US 15-501 Superstreet

This project is proposed to improve the operations of the intersection,
particularly for vehicles traveling off of US 15-501 and onto Erwin and
Europa Drives. This website explains the need for this project, the process
NCDOT is currently undergoing to study the project and a quick explanation
of the project alternatives being considered.

US 70 Clayton Bypass

The new highway will relieve congestion on existing U.S. 70 and provide motorists traveling to
Raleigh or to the coast an alternate route built to interstate standards. Motorists traveling to I-40
through Clayton will have a faster less congested route.

I-77 Rehabilitation

The existing northbound lanes will be overlaid with asphalt and concrete and the paved shoulders will be constructed.

US 17 Washington Bypass

The U.S. 17 Washington Bypass was constructed to relieve traffic congestion on existing U.S. 17 once it is open to traffic.

Widen US 421 (King Street) to a four to six-lane raised concrete median divided facility from US 321 (Hardin Street) to east of NC 194 (Jefferson Road).

I-40 Widening Project and I-440 Signing Improvements

To widen I-40 from 4 to 6 lanes from west of Wade Avenue (State Road 1728) to east of the Jones Franklin Road (S.R. 5039) bridge. This project also includes new signs and interstate route numbering on I-440.
