Jerry Tillman joined the N.C. Board of Transportation in August 2020 and serves as an at-large member.
Tillman served in the North Carolina State Senate for 18 years, representing Randolph and Guilford counties before leaving office in June 2020. He was chair of the Senate Finance Committee, chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee on Education, and Majority Whip. He was precinct chairman for the Randolph County Republican party for 23 years.
He was elected to the Senate after a 35-year career in education as an assistant superintendent, principal, teacher and coach.
Tillman, a native of Siler City, received a bachelor's degree from Elon College and a Masters in School Administration from UNC-Greensboro. He is active in the Archdale/Trinity Lions Club and the Archdale Friends Meeting. He has taught Sunday school since 1970.
