Mary Clayton is a senior vice president for Gresham Smith in their Charlotte office, spearheading transportation service across North Carolina.
Clayton was formerly the area manager for WSP/PB’s Charlotte and South Carolina offices. She also has worked with planning and environment (national practice) for Parsons Brinckerhoff, where she had responsibility for the strategic project development in their Mid-Atlantic Region.
Clayton has more than 30 years experience in the business of transportation, with an emphasis in both the public and private sectors. She has specialized in transportation demand management and currently leads a statewide project for NCDOT involving several of the state’s busiest and growing communities.
In 2005, she received the Governor’s Award for outstanding service for her work in public transportation in North Carolina.
In October of 2016, Mary sponsored the formation of a group of women in Charlotte called the “Women of Power, Passion and Promise”, that meets every 60 days to discuss matters of importance to women in the Charlotte region.
Her term on the N.C. Turnpike Authority Board of Directors runs from 2020 to 2024.
