Jim Palermo is a former executive in residence at Johnson & Wales University as well as a former executive vice president at Bank of America.
Since moving to North Carolina in 1976, Palermo has been actively involved in numerous civic and nonprofit organizations. He’s served as chairman of the Presbyterian Board of Trustees and chairman of the Charlotte Center City Partners board, which helped build upon the economic strength of the center city and surrounding areas.
Palermo also is past chairman and co-founder of the Neuro Life, a nonprofit charged with raising and directing funds for brain cancer research and support programs for patients and families affected by brain cancer.
A native of Dunkirk, N.Y., Palermo earned a bachelor’s degree from Canisius College in Buffalo. He and his wife Sharron reside in Boone, as does their daughter, a critical care nurse, and her family. They also have a son, who is a physician in Greensboro.
