Step 1, Requirements & Documents
You must possess one of the following, issued by the NC DMV.
Motorcycle Learner Permit
You must possess one of the following, issued by the NC DMV. Motorcycle Learner Permits are issued for 12 months. Only one renewal of six months is allowed.
Additional Requirements for Full Provisional License
You must be at least 16 years old but less than 18 years old.
A parent or guardian’s signature is required.
Requirements for a Regular License
Step 2, Take Driver Tests & Pay Fees
The final step towards getting your Motorcycle Endorsement or Motorcycle Learner Permit is passing the driver tests & paying the appropriate fees.
The Knowledge Test must be completed before the Skills Test (Road Test) can be given.
For Learner Permit
Drivers under the age of 18 will have to pass a course offered by
the organizations below in addition to the normal tests.
