The N.C. Department of Transportation's Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day promotes engineering as a desirable career option for young women.
Students can participate in hands-on activities related to transportation as well as question-and-answer sessions with female engineers who work at NCDOT in various disciplines.
Engineers also share the daily duties and skills necessary for their jobs while encouraging young women to maintain their math and science skills, which are necessary to enter programs in college.
