10/20/17, Special Alert for Entire State

Thursday, October 12th through Sunday, October 22nd, motorists should expect possible heavy congestion on roads in the Raleigh area due to State Fair traffic.

Roads expected to be affected include: I-40 and I-440 approaching Wade Avenue, Blue Ridge Road, Edwards Mill Road, Trinity Road, Wade Avenue, NC-54, and Hillsborough Street in the vicinity of the fairgrounds.
Congestion on these roadways is expected to be at its
highest during the evening when special events at the fair draw larger crowds, and on weekends.

Motorists not attending the event are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes away from the fairgrounds if possible. Those attending the fair are advised to carpool, drive with caution, and obey all signs and law enforcement officers.

The outside lanes of Future I-26 will be closed while the bridge concrete deck is rehabed.

10/18/17, Tunnel Rd W, Construction, Lane Closed

New conduit to be installed along existing lighting system in the Beaucatcher Tunnel. Westbound lane will be closed from 10:00pm-6:00am from Old Chunns Cove Rd. to College St. Lane closure with flaggers will be in place. Pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the opposite sidewalk in the tunnel.

10/16/17, I-26 A, Construction, Congestion

Contractor will begin working on intersection of I-26/US-74/NC-108
Contractor will be working on constructing new intersection along I-26 between mile marker 67 and 68.  Expect lane closures at night after 9:00pm and lane shifts during the day.  Please use caution, equipment and personnel will be working in close proximity to open traffic lanes.

I-26 will have some bridge rehabilitaition work, guardrail maintenance/construction, and asphalt paving throughout the life of the project. One lane in each direction may be closed at a time for these activities. Work will typically take place during the days Monday through Friday with occasional weekend and night work.
