I-77 North is closed near Salem Fork at Exit 93, Zephyr rd, due to a crash. The road is expected to reopen by 8:00 AM.

Detour: Motorists must take Exit 93, Zephyr rd, to US-601. Turn left onto US-601 North and continue to I-74. Take I-74 West and continue to re-access I-77 North. 

Heavy traffic is expected Aug. 18-21 on North Carolina interstates as motorists travel to and through the State to reach the path of totality for the solar ecplise.

Expect high traffic volumes on interstates and primary highways. Plan ahead and schedule extra time into all trips.

In addition, watch for pedestrians, turn on headlights, be aware of distracted drivers, and do not view eclipse while driving or wear eclipse glasses when behind the wheel. Park vehicles off the road to view the eclipse, and follow instructions of all posted signs.

Red Hill Road will be closed between NC 214 and the 4 lane section of Jefferson Street for repairs to a box culvert in the highway.

08/17/17, Carl Meares Road A, Construction, Road Closed with Detour

Update: Carl Meares Road should open Saturday afternoon late, 8/19/2017. Carl Meares Road will be closed for a month beginning Monday, July 17th, at 8 am to start a major pipe replacement project. Local motorists may use SR 1500 Ice Plant Road, US Highway 76, and SR 1501 Porter Swamp Road for the detour.
