BOARD OF TRANSPORTATION MEMBER MATT WOOD CUTS RIBBON ON U.S. 13 BRIDGES IN HERTFORD COUNTY

RALEIGH - At a ribbon-cutting ceremony today near Ahoskie, N.C. Department of Transportation Board member Matt Wood joined North Carolina legislators Rep. Annie Mobley and Sen. Ed Jones, as well as other state and local officials, to celebrate the reopening of the U.S. 13 bridges over Ahoskie Creek. The $2.4 million project, awarded to Sanford Contracting of Sanford and Wetherill Engineering of Raleigh in November 2009, was funded through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The old bridges were replaced with two new bridges using the design-build method and crews were able to finish this project ahead of schedule despite a small setback from Hurricane Irene.
