RALEIGH - Construction has started on another section of I-295, also known as the Fayetteville Outer Loop. This project will connect Bragg Boulevard to the All American Freeway.
Work includes grading 1.9 miles from N.C. 24 (Bragg Boulevard) to east of Yadkin Road. As part of the work, a new bridge and interchange will be built at All American Freeway. In addition, All American Freeway will be widened from south of Fort Bragg's access control point to north of Santa Fe Drive to accommodate traffic from I-295.
Most work will take place on new location. The contractor has started installing signs and clearing trees, and will begin grading work after that is complete.
A $54.3 million contract was awarded to R.E. Goodson Construction Company Inc. of Darlington, S.C. for the work. The project is scheduled to be complete by July 15, 2015.
Paving of this section of I-295 will be included in a future contract that will be awarded near the completion of the grading and structure work.
