RALEIGH - Lane closures can be expected over the next several days along north and southbound Durham Freeway between Swift Avenue (Exit 14) and T.W. Alexander Drive (Exit 7), as work continues on a $4.2 million N.C. Department of Transportation improvement project. Crews will be doing diamond grinding of roadway surfaces, concrete repairs and bridge repairs at different locations in the work zone area. Lane closures in both directions can be expected beginning at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 21, and could be in place during nighttime and daytime hours over the next week, depending on when  bridge decks will be ready for paving. The paving work is temperature dependent and has to be performed in temperatures above 50 degrees. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. This project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 1. Updated travel information is available by calling 511 or online at In addition, NCDOT now offers travel information on Twitter.
