I-40 East Off-Ramp to U.S. 220/Freeman Mill Road in Greensboro to Be Closed For Soil Removal

RALEIGH - The I-40 East off-ramp to U.S. 220 South/Freeman Mill Road (Exit 218A) in Guilford County will be closed from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, weather permitting. The closure is necessary to allow a private firm to clean up contaminated soil from a recent tanker crash on U.S. 220 South/Freeman Mill Road. Motorists should use the following signed detour:
  • Continue on I-40 East and take U.S. 29/N.C. 70 South/I-85 Business South (Exit 219) to U.S. 220/Freeman Mill Road (Exit 35).
