RALEIGH - Lane closures will continue this weekend, weather permitting, on north and southbound Durham Freeway between T.W. Alexander Drive (Exit 7) and Swift Avenue (Exit 14) as work is scheduled to continue on a $4.2 million N.C. Department of Transportation improvement project. Closures can be expected both during the day and night as some of the work usually done at night cannot be done at temperatures below 50 degrees.
Lane closures will be in place in both directions starting at 7 p.m. on Friday. Scheduled work includes diamond grinding, which removes a thin layer from the top of the roadway to create a smoother surface and extend its lifespan, as well as bridge and concrete roadway repairs. The project is expected to continue for the next several weeks.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
