CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation will continue work this weekend on I-85 in both directions between Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) and Kannapolis Parkway (Exit 54) tonight and tomorrow night, weather permitting. Motorists should remain alert for the following:

- Crews will close the ramp from I-85 North to Kannapolis Parkway from 9 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. Saturday for paving operations.
- Crews will be setting barrier wall in the vicinity of Bruton Smith Boulevard from 9 p.m. tonight until 8 a.m. Saturday, and from 9 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday.
The closures are in conjunction with the $125 million widening project, which includes widening I-85 from four to eight lanes from south of Bruton Smith Boulevard to N.C. 73 in Cabarrus County, and converting the interchanges with Poplar Tent Road and N.C. 73 to diverging diamond interchanges.
