STEAKHOUSE ROAD IN MORGANTON TO CLOSE PERMANENTLY NOV. 7 AS PART OF N.C. 18 WIDENING PROJECT

RALEIGH - The N.C. Department of Transportation will permanently close Steakhouse Road at its intersection with N.C. 18/South Sterling Street in Morganton in Burke County beginning Monday, Nov. 7.

Traffic will need to use N.C. 18 South to Believers Way Road to Randall Road to access businesses and residences affected by this closure.

The closure is part of a $21.2 million project to widen N.C. 18/South Sterling Street and replace the Interstate 40 bridges over N.C. 18. The project contractor is Dane Construction Co. of Mooresville. Work began in August and is scheduled for completion in October 2014.

Questions about the project may be directed to the resident engineer at (828) 652-7848.
