NCDOT Awards $4.2 Million for Milling and Resurfacing Project in Bertie, Hertford, and Northampton Counties

RALEIGH - N.C. Department of Transportation Secretary Gene Conti has awarded a contract to mill and resurface 50 miles of roads in Bertie, Hertford, and Northampton counties.The $4.2 million contract was awarded to Rose Brothers Paving Company, Inc. of Ahoskie. Work is scheduled to begin as early as Feb. 27, with final completion scheduled for no later than July 31.The project includes milling and resurfacing of the following roads in Bertie County: 0.3 miles of N.C. 308/Sterlingworth Street from Granville Street to the end of the curbed section; 0.4 miles of U.S. 13 Business from Granville Street to U.S. 17 Business; 0.8 miles of U.S. 17 Business from U.S. 13 Business to N.C. 308; 0.8 miles of U.S. 13 from the Hertford County line to Center Grove Road; 0.4 miles of U.S. 13 from U.S. 17 Bypass to Baker Street; 0.6 miles of Grabtown Road/Ghent Street from U.S. 13 to N.C. 308; 1.0 mile of N.C. 11 Business from N.C. 11 to Hexlena Road/Connaritsa Road; 2.5 miles of Early Station Road from Center Grove Road to the Hertford County line; 1.9 miles of Hexlena Road from U.S. 13 to Mitchell Road; 3.7 miles of Perrytown Road from Wakelon Road to Sand Hill Road/Bethany Church Road; and 0.9 miles of Pine Ridge Road from Browns School Road to Sand Hill Road/Bethany Church Road.The project includes milling and resurfacing of the following roads in Northampton County: 6.3 miles of N.C. 305 from the northern city limits of Jackson to the southern city limits of Seaboard; 1.4 miles of N.C. 46 from Lebanon Church Road/James Jones Road to the eastern city limits of Gaston; 2.9 miles of N.C. 48 from I-95 to U.S. 301; 4.2 miles of Jenkins Mill Road from N.C. 35 to Creeksville Road; 5.7 miles of Tower Road from Galatia Road to N.C. 186; and 3.5 miles of Tower Road/ Deberrys Mill Road to Bynum Road.The project includes milling and resurfacing of the following roads in Hertford County: 1.2 miles of U.S. 13 from Arrow Road to the Bertie County line; 1.9 miles of Hollowell Road from N.C. 11 to St. John Millennium Road; 2.0 miles of Hall Siding Road from Ahoskie-Cofield Road to the end of the curbed section; 1.3 miles of Woodrow School Road from N.C. 11 to Woodland Road; 0.6 miles of Union Street from U.S. 158 to the beginning of the curbed section; 1.32 miles of Benthall Bridge Road from Beaver Dam Road to Flea Hill Road; 1.3 miles of Boone Bridge Road from Edwin Evans Road to Whitley Road; 0.7 miles of Old Ferry Road from N.C. 45 to where state maintenance ends; and 1.7 miles of Beaver Dam Road from N.C. 11 to Woodland Road.This is one of 39 contracts totaling $203.2 million awarded by Conti for highway and bridge projects across North Carolina. NCDOT awarded the contracts to the lowest bidders, as required by state law. The bids received on the projects awarded came in about 2.9 percent, or about $6.2 million, below NCDOT estimates.Since Gov.
