NCDOT Awards $987,602 Contract to Widen and Resurface a Section of N.C. 102 in Pitt County

RALEIGH - N.C. Department of Transportation Secretary Gene Conti has awarded a contract to widen and resurface a 2.7-mile section of N.C. 102 from N.C. 11 to N.C. 903 in Ayden. The $987,602 contract that was awarded to Greenville Paving & Contracting Inc. of Greenville can begin as early as April 30 and is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 15.Work includes widening the current road to add paved shoulders.This is one of 34 contracts totaling $130.8 million awarded by Conti following NCDOT's March contract letting for highway and bridge projects across North Carolina. NCDOT awarded the contracts to the lowest bidders, as required by state law. The bids received on the projects awarded came in about 1.4 percent, or $118.8 million, below NCDOT estimates.  Since Gov.
