CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation will continue lighting improvements on I-77 near downtown Charlotte beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, weather permitting. The work is part of a $473,000 contract awarded to Brooks, Berry and Haynie of Mableton, Ga. to improve lighting on I-77, I-277, and a section of I-85 in Cabarrus County.
At 9 p.m., the contractor will close the right lane on I-77 South under the John Belk Freeway (Exit 9), as well as two ramps in the area:
- The exit ramp from I-277 Inner to I-77 South; and
- The entrance ramp from West Trade Street to I-77 South.
Lane and ramp closures are scheduled to end by 6 a.m. Friday, June 22.
The contractor will resume work on at 9 p.m. Sunday, June 24, closing the right lane on I-77 South between Trade Street (Exit 10) and the John Belk Freeway, along with two ramps:
- The exit ramp from I-77 South to Morehead Street; and
- The entrance ramp from Trade Street to I-77 South.
Lane and ramp closures will be removed by 6 a.m. Monday, June 25.
