RALEIGH - The N.C. Department of Transportation is
proposing changes to an intersection on N.C. 150 just west of the newly
constructed N.C. 16 near Denver in Lincoln County.
After an extensive traffic study, the department plans to
modify the intersection of N.C. 150 at Henry Dellinger Road/Lebanon Church Road
by constructing left turn lanes in both directions of N.C. 150, as well as
installing overhead flashers at the intersection.
N.C. 150 is a two-lane road, and the intersection with Henry
Dellinger Road/Lebanon Church Road is controlled by stop signs. A pattern of
rear-end and right-angle crashes prompted NCDOT to investigate making improvements.
Interim measures would include larger "Stop Ahead" signs and a 45 mile per
hour speed limit along N.C. 150 through the intersection.
A project proposal will be submitted later this month to the
state traffic engineer requesting funds for the improvements.
