NCDOT Project in Randolph County Means New Bridge for Bethel Friends Road

RALEIGH - Work is scheduled to start as early as Jan. 2 on a $447,547.70 N.C. Department of Transportation project to replace a bridge on Bethel Friends Road over Squirrel Creek in Randolph County.

The contract was awarded to APACThompson Arthur Division of Greensboro to replace the 52-year-old bridge, located southeast of Asheboro. The bridge is in deteriorating condition and was originally built to standards no longer used.

The new bridge is scheduled to open by May 2. Drivers will be directed to use Grantville Lane and N.C. 42 to get around the construction site.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch for the road closure signs, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
