CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation will open Browne Road in northeast Charlotte at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, weather permitting. The road closure has been in place since April 9 as part of the Charlotte Outer Loop project, which will complete the final 5.7 miles of I-485 in northeast Mecklenburg County.
The closure allowed contractor Blythe Construction to build a bridge that will carry traffic on Browne Road over I-485. Additional utility work required the closure to be extended past the scheduled November completion date.
The $139.5 million project is scheduled for completion in December 2014.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
