The North Carolina Department of Transportation will close a traffic lane in each direction on Interstate 26 in Polk County for bridge improvements beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26.
The lane closures will remain in place continuously for four weeks, concluding at 6 a.m. Dec. 21. They are necessary for crews to carry out rehabilitation work on the bridge on I-26 at Exit 59. One lane in each direction will remain open to traffic for the duration of the project.
The work is part of a $2.4 million contract NCDOT has awarded to Taylor & Murphy Construction Co. of Asheville to upgrade 10 bridges in Polk and Henderson counties.
