CHARLOTTE The N.C. Department of Transportation is preparing to replace the bridge on N.C. 49 over Curl Tail Creek near Richfield on Monday, August 12, weather permitting.
Dellinger Inc. was awarded the $2.7 million contract to replace the existing bridge with a longer, wider structure about 70 feet north of its current location. The bridge was built in 1955 and is now considered structurally deficient. The bridge is safe, but it needs to be replaced to meet current and future traffic demands. A longer, wider structure will enhance safety and traffic mobility.
While the project is underway, traffic will be maintained on N.C. 49. There will not be an offsite detour. The project is scheduled to be completed by April 30, 2015.
