RALEIGH - The N.C. Department
of Transportation will hold an informational workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. on
Tuesday, March 12, on the proposed replacement of the bridge on Fisher Creek
Road over Fisher Creek in Sylva. The workshop will take place at the Jackson
County Justice Center, located at 401 Grindstaff Cove Road in Sylva.
NCDOT proposes to replace the existing bridge with a wider
structure that meets current design standards. The new bridge will have 10-foot-wide
travel lanes. The existing bridge was built in 1958 and needs to be replaced
due to its age and condition. Construction of the new bridge is expected to
begin in April.
The public is invited to attend at any time during the
workshop hours to speak individually with NCDOT officials and review project
plans. There will not be a formal presentation. The opportunity to submit
written comments or questions will be provided.
