RALEIGH - The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on Thursday, Aug. 15, regarding the proposed U.S. 17 Hampstead Bypass. The meeting will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Topsail High School, 245 North St. Johns Church Road in Hampstead.
Citizens may stop by at their convenience; there will not be a formal presentation. NCDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and receive comments. Public input will be taken into consideration as work on the project develops.
The purpose of the meeting is to present the revised preliminary design to the U.S. 17 Hampstead Bypass. In response to citizens' comments, NCDOT explored options for providing access to existing U.S. 17 north of Topsail High School from the proposed bypass.
A supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (SDEIS) will be completed this fall. The supplemental DEIS will be placed on the project's website for public review and input at https://www.ncdot.gov/projects/US17HampsteadBypass/.
