will modify the intersection of University Parkway and Wake Forest Road in Winston-Salem to improve safety and mobility at this entrance to the campus of Wake Forest University.To improve the flow of traffic at this intersection, NCDOT will permanently close the left-turn lane from Wake Forest Road to northbound University Parkway. Motorists on Wake Forest Road will turn right to southbound University Parkway, and then make a U-turn at the intersection with Lakewood Drive to access northbound University Parkway.On Monday, June 3, NCDOT will close lanes at the intersection of University Parkway and Lakewood Drive, weather permitting, to extend the left turn lane from southbound University Parkway to Lakewood Drive. This will provide additional storage capacity for the increased number of motorists making a U-turn at this location once the project is complete.Weather permitting, crews will permanently close the left-turn lane from Wake Forest Road to northbound University Parkway on Monday, June 10, and shift traffic to the new pattern.NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.For real-time travel information at any time, call 511, visit www.ncdot.gov/travel or follow NCDOT on Twitter.
