will close Hedrick Mill Road near Hedrick Lane in Davidson County to replace the bridge over Four Mile Branch at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 22, weather permitting. The new bridge is expected to be complete by Monday, Nov. 18.Hedrick Mill Road will be closed to through traffic during construction of the new bridge. Local traffic will be able to access homes and business from either end of Hedrick Mill Road, but will not be able to pass beyond the closure points on either side of Four Mile Branch. Through traffic should use the following signed detour route during the closure:
This project is part of the NCDOT's $450 million state-funded bridge plan for 2011-13, which calls for preservation, repairs or replacement of bridges statewide. The existing bridge was built in 1960 and is reaching the end of its life cycle. This means the bridge is safe, but it needs to be replaced to meet current and future traffic demands.
