- Crews will shift traffic into a new pattern this weekend on West Market Street in Greensboro, as work continues on an N.C. Department of Transportation
project to widen and improve nearly four miles of the road. When complete, the project will enhance safety and mobility in the area by significantly improving access to local businesses and to Piedmont Triad International Airport.Beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, weather permitting, crews will shift traffic on West Market Street to the newly constructed lanes between N.C. 68 and Crosscreek Road. The Greensboro Police Department will direct traffic through area intersections as crews work to adjust the traffic signals to accommodate the new traffic pattern. Motorists should expect lane shifts and watch construction signs for information. The $17.5 million infrastructure investment involves widening 3.8 miles of West Market Street from Bunker Hill Road in Colfax to N.C. 68 in Greensboro to four lanes with a median. The contract was awarded to Jimmy R. Lynch and Sons Inc. of Pilot Mountain.
