RALEIGH The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to resurface two major roads in Lexington this spring -Main Street and Fifth Avenue. Before the paving work begins, crews must first make some minor repairs to the pavement to ensure it serves as a good foundation for the new layer of asphalt."We want to maximize the service life of the road and make our asphalt investment last longer," said NCDOT Davidson County Maintenance Engineer Mark Crook. "That is why we will seal cracks and patch potholes before the resurfacing work starts."On Monday, April 15, crews will begin repairing the pavement on Fifth Avenue from Main Street to I-85 Business. Weather permitting, the work will occur on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. until it is complete. On Monday, April 22, crews will begin crack sealing and patching operations on Main Street from Grimes Boulevard to I-85 Business.
