NCDOT to Temporarily Close Two Railroad Crossings in Carteret County

Norfolk Southern to install new crossing panels
RALEIGH - Weather permitting, the N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close two railroad crossings on Arendell Street in Morehead City beginning Tuesday, Jan 22 to allow Norfolk Southern Railroad to install new crossing panels. The railroad crossing on Arendell Street at 23rd Street will be closed from 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24. Motorists exiting the Atlantic Beach/Morehead City Bridge will be detoured around the closure.Beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24 crews will close the railroad crossing on Arendell Street at 8th Street until Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. Motorists can use 7th or 9th street as a detour route. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
