Closure is part of Roberta Road grade separation project
CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close School Road between N.C. 49 and Hickory Ridge Road in Harrisburg from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, weather permitting.
Crews will be constructing several pipe crossings along School Road in conjunction with a bridge project taking Roberta Road over the Norfolk Southern Railroad. The bridge construction is part of the Piedmont Improvement Program, a series of rail projects that will improve safety and mobility on the corridor between Raleigh and Charlotte. PIP projects are primarily funded by the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, and will be completed by Sept. 30, 2017.
Motorists are advised to use Robinson Church Road as an alternate route during the closure.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
