Closure is part of $125.2 million I-85 widening project
CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation will be closing the ramp from N.C. 73 to I-85 North in Concord at 9 p.m. Thursday, March 7, and Friday, March 8, weather permitting. The closure is part of the 6.8-mile I-85 widening project, improving I-85 from four to eight lanes from south of Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) to north of N.C. 73 (Exit 55).
Contractor Lane Construction has to close the ramp to tie it in with a new section of N.C. 73. The ramp will reopen to traffic by 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday mornings.
A separate closure is scheduled on the entrance ramp from George Liles Parkway to I-85 North at 2 a.m. Thursday morning while crews complete installing 300 feet of barrier. The closure should last about an hour.
