NCDOT will shift traffic on N.C. 49 widening project in Cabarrus County December 3

CHARLOTTE The N.C. Department of Transportation is preparing to shift traffic on the 2.1 mile project widening N.C. 49 from east of Walker Road to east of N.C. 73 in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday, Dec. 3, weather permitting.

The traffic shift will allow crews to continue extending a culvert under the southbound lanes of N.C. 49. Northbound lanes will handle both directions of traffic while work continues into the spring of 2014. Message boards and other safety measures will be utilized to help motorists become familiar with the new traffic pattern.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
