CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation will run two rolling road blocks on I-485 in both directions over Westinghouse Boulevard in Charlotte beginning at 1 a.m. Thursday, June 6, weather permitting. The work is part of the $83.3 million I-485 widening project to add one lane in each direction between I-77 and Rea Road.
The rolling road blocks will help crews with Duke Energy safely relocate power lines across the interstate. Each rolling road block should last approximately 15 minutes. Crews expect to complete relocating the power lines by 5 a.m. Thursday. In the event of inclement weather, the work will be rescheduled for 1 a.m. Friday, June 7.
Contractor Lane Construction has proposed completing the project in December 2014.
