CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation will start work on a roundabout at the intersection of Harrisburg Road and Cambridge Commons Drive in Charlotte Monday, July 8, weather permitting.
Contractor J.T. Russell and Sons Inc. of Albemarle will start the $627,000 project by installing work signs and preparing the work area. The project will be built in six phases, and is scheduled to be completed Sept. 8. Access to the Cambridge Commons Shopping Center will be maintained during construction.
The new roundabout will create a one-way intersection that requires approaching motorists to yield to circulating traffic, often eliminating the need to come to a complete stop.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
