CHARLOTTE -Weather permitting, the N.C. Department of Transportation tonight will temporarily close the entrance ramp from George Liles Parkway to I-85 South in Concord and the right lane on I-85 South at 9 p.m. Both closures will be removed by 6 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14.
During the closure, crews will temporarily switch traffic to a new pattern associated with the $125.2 million I-85 widening project. The project includes converting 6.8 miles of I-85 from four to eight lanes from south of Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) to north of N.C. 73 (Exit 55). In addition, existing interchanges at Poplar Tent Road (Exit 52) and N.C. 73 will be changed to diverging diamond interchanges.
