CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close the loop entrance ramp at Johnston Road and the I-485 Outer Loop at midnight Sunday, June 30, weather permitting. The work is part of the $83.3 project to widen 9.2 miles of I-485 between I-77 and Rea Road in south Mecklenburg County.
Motorists traveling south on Johnston Road will not have access to the loop ramp while crews install temporary guardrail. This measure will give workers additional safety in the area. The ramp should reopen by 6 a.m. Monday, July 1.
Contractor Lane Construction has proposed completing the project in December 2014.
