CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close the exit loop ramp from the I-485 Inner Loop to Johnston Road South (U.S. 521) in Charlotte at 9 p.m. Sunday, June 9, weather permitting. The work is part of the $83.3 project to widen 9.2 miles of I-485 between I-77 and Rea Road in south Mecklenburg County.
During the closure, crews will install a crash cushion and barrier walls along the ramp, providing safety to workers during construction of the future Johnston Road flyover bridge. One lane will be closed on the Inner Loop at 9 p.m., and the ramp closure should take about two hours. All work should be completed by 3 a.m. Monday, June 10.
Contractor Lane Construction has proposed completing the project in December 2014
