CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation is continuing its project to improve mobility and safety on I-85 in Concord with ramp closures beginning at 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, and Friday, Sept. 27, weather permitting. Each closure will allow crews to safely shift traffic on the I-85 widening project from south of Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) to north of N.C. 73 (Exit 55).
Thursday, Sept. 26:
Crews will temporarily close the exit ramp from I-85 North to Poplar Tent Road (Exit 52) until 6 a.m. Friday.
Friday, Sept. 27:
Crews will temporarily close the entrance ramp from Poplar Tent Road to I-85 North until 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.
In addition, traffic on Poplar Tent Road between I-85 and Derita Road will be shifted to new pavement beginning at 9 p.m. Friday. No offsite detour will be needed.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
