Closures are necessary to safely remove sign structure on the Inner Loop
CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation will be working with contractor Lane Construction to remove an overhead sign structure on the I-485 Inner Loop west of the entrance ramp from South Boulevard (Exit 65) that sustained damage from a vehicle accident May 1. The structure removal will take place over several nights, beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, June 17, weather permitting. The work is scheduled Monday -Thursday nights June 17-20, and June 24-27.
The contractor will perform a right lane closure at 9 p.m. each night, and may switch lane closures between the Inner and Outer Loop. To safely remove the structure, intermittent rolling road blocks will be performed each night in 15-20 minute increments. In addition, the following ramps will be closed up to two hours during the structure removal:
Wednesday, June 19:
Entrance ramp from I-485 Outer Loop to South Boulevard.
Monday, June 24:
Exit ramp from I-485 Outer Loop to N.C. 51 (Exit 64).
Thursday, June 27:
Exit ramp from I-485 Inner Loop to N.C. 51.
